PRESTON CANCELLED: Our venue, UCLAN, has just informed us that they have decided to cancel events on their premises (see below). The VETTS will refund all entry fees - but please don't claim yet. Let us set up a system so we have some structure to the admin task. The VETTS cannot take responsibility for other costs incurred, such as hotels, travel etc. We will also review the selection criteria for VETTS internationals in the light of this. We are also rechecking with Western and Nationals venues. All we can do is keep people informed. Can we please ask though, that this thread isn't diluted with comments and opinions. At the moment, we need to keep a clear channel open to communicate news and updates - and we don't want important information being lost. Thanks.

Dear Sir/Madam

With the growing number of cases of coronavirus in the UK, the University has been closely monitoring the situation and advice given from World Health Organisation, Public Health England and sport national governing bodies of sports. In the light of this, given the immediate threat of the likely spread of coronavirus from hosting large sport event gatherings that UCLan Sir Tom Finney Sports Centreports Arena holds, the University has decided to cancel the VETTS Table Tennis Tournament on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd March 2020 .

We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, but we hope you appreciate we must do everything we can to minimise the risk of the virus spreading on any of our campuses. We hope that we can re-arrange your event in the coming months, however, we realise that this may not always be possible and would ask if you would indicate your preference. If we can re-arrange we will be back in touch with you as soon as possible to confirm a new booking.

We will stay in contact with you with regular updates. We are committed to offering you the best service, especially during these difficult times in circumstances beyond our control.

Thank you for your patience and co-operation.

Kind Regards
