WVC 2020

Unfortunately notification was received mid-December 2020 of the final cancellation of WVC 2020. The text of the email is shown below:

It is with a lot of sorrow that we announce the final cancellation of WVC2020 which was meant to take place in April 2021. We must sadly accept that the health crisis linked to Covid 19 might still be running on the rescheduled date of WVC2020 in 2021.

Facing this circumstance, we gathered the main WVC2020's stakeholders and assessed all together risks management. They unanimously highly recommend to cancel the event. Health of players, accompanying persons, referees, volunteers and all stakeholders being our top priority.

Be aware that our team remains mobilized so that each and every one can receive a full refund of all expenses incurred (players and accompanying persons registration, hotel booking and tourist excursions made through the organisors). You will soon receive an email specifying the refund procedure.

We share your disappointment and hope that our paths may cross in future World Veterans Championships organizations. Until then, please stay healthy.

This was also announced on the ITTF website World Veterans Cancellation

You may have noticed within Jan's Christmas Message that the committee has taken the unfotunate decision to cancel both the Northern and Western Masters events that were due to be held in March and April 2021 respectively. This is never a decision that was taken lightly however the safety of players, officials, spectators and everyone associated with VETTS events has to be the priority.

We are currently working on a revised schedule of events for the years ahead, so please be patient.

In a recently published announcement on the ITTF website, they take a reflective look on 2020 with a look towards 2021. Unfortunately, the current ongoing issues with COVID-19 has meant the cancellation of the World Team Championships due to be held in Busan, South Korea.
